Veterans Band
Butler Veterans Band
We welcome an eclectic group of veteran musicians to Butler’s campus each week to make music together. From accordion to harmonica, piano to violin, there is a place for truly every instrument in this ensemble. This class is meant to be fun in a relaxed, supportive environment. It is designed for anyone who has never played a single note or has years of experience—we will meet you wherever you are in your musical journey (and share a few laughs along the way).
Participation is free, and you can bring your own instrument or borrow one of ours.
Butler Veterans Creative Arts Programs support veterans and their families by providing community-based opportunities for creative expression. Each program is completely free, and most meet weekly on Butler’s campus.

The dates for the spring semester of the class are Tuesdays, 2:00 PM–3:30 PM from September 8–December 8. There will be no class held on November 24.
We welcome both beginners and experienced musicians to join this program!
Marc Keehmer is a trumpet player and educator with over 20 years of experience. He currently works as the Assistant Director of Camps and Youth Programs at Butler University. Marc has taught private lessons and group classes in trumpet, clarinet, guitar, and ukulele, and has conducted a variety of ensembles, including school bands, youth wind ensembles, and a modern band for military veterans. He also performs regularly with the Second Chamber Players. At his core, Marc is passionate about creating welcoming spaces where people can make music together. He’s excited to lead this new ensemble and reconnect with the joy of playing in community.
